CURRICULUM
Scribe & Scholar follows a classical education curriculum that emphasizes grammar, logic, and rhetoric. Our curriculum is adaptable to all ages and focuses on cultivating a lifelong love for learning and critical thinking skills.
Parents have the flexibility to craft their homeschool journey in a program that best meets the needs of their student(s). We offer one (1) and two (2) day options with the ability to combine them for three (3) days total of hybrid school supported learning.
Our one-day option is offered on Wednesdays and focuses on STEAM concepts and activities. These STEAM activities act as a stand-alone option for one-day students, while it also ties into the themes of the two-day option for those interested in attending all three days.
Our two-day option is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays and focuses on the humanities (history, geography, literature, and art). All of these offerings are intended to supplement the curriculum you are using at home. While basic language arts and mathematical concepts will be addressed and supported for practice, the primary responsibility for these two facets of education are left to the parent to complete on their “at-home” days.
Our curriculum is secular in nature, in that it does not promote or teach any one specific religion/belief over another. Within our lessons, we do address religion from a teaching perspective as it appears in the curriculum and as it addresses various cultures in history. Within classroom interactions and practices, we focus simply on teaching the children what it means to be respectful and accepting of differences, and how to care about one another as we learn together.

“We utilize a secular classical curriculum which follows a historical, scientifically-backed timeline tracing world events through four key periods: Ancient World, Medieval Period, New World, and Modern Age.
Each school year will be dedicated to one of these four cycles. The classical approach is a time-tested way of learning known to build strong critical and analytical thinking skills, communication, and character. The goal is a well-rounded and holistic education, where students understand how events interrelate and the significance of historical and modern moments in time.
Part of our curriculum is based in essentialist theory, believing that certain behaviors and subjects should be taught to everyone regardless of age, interest, or desired field of study. By reading great books, studying history and science, and learning how to act with wisdom, students gain the tools to ask (and answer) big questions, express themselves with confidence, and appreciate the world around them. This approach encourages a love of learning, independent thought, and a deeper understanding of truth - which, in turn, prepares students to succeed in any chosen path.
This curriculum is a spiral curriculum, where key concepts are intended to be revisited until they are mastered, and then built upon with increasing depth and complexity. Students will encounter the same idea multiple times, with each revisit expanding their comprehension and mastery of the topic. Over time, students will make greater connections between ideas and events, allowing for a holistic worldview. This approach helps reinforce learning, improves topic retention, and supports long-term growth.”
